Cocktails Worth Making

Great cocktails don’t need a chemistry degree or a bar full of weird ingredients. Find tropical favorites, timeless classics, party drinks, mocktails and plenty of reasons to break out the shaker.

Better Drinks Without the Pretentious Nonsense

A good cocktail should be fun to make, good to drink, and simple enough that you don’t need a chemistry degree or twelve bottles you’ll use once every three years. That’s the whole point of the Shipnut cocktail side of the house.

This is where we break drinks down into something useful. Classics, tropical favorites, party drinks, coffee cocktails, mocktails, frozen drinks, seasonal ideas, and the occasional creation that sounds questionable right up until the first sip. The goal is not to make bartending complicated. It is to help you make better drinks at home with ingredients, tools, and techniques that actually matter.

COCKTAIL BASICS

Start With the Basics

Most cocktails get dramatically better when a few simple things are handled correctly: accurate measurements, fresh ingredients, enough ice, the right dilution, and a decent balance between strong, sweet, sour, bitter, or sparkling elements. None of that requires fancy equipment. It requires paying attention to what is going into the glass.

A jigger helps. Fresh citrus helps more than a neon bottle of mystery mix. Good ice matters. So does using a glass that fits the drink instead of whatever survived the dishwasher.
